Bumblebee is an effective greenhouse and open field pollinator. Bumblebees are used to pollinate many crops, such as:
- Tomato
- Pepper
- Strawberry
- Eggplant
- Pear
- Apple
- Sweet cherry
- Apricot
- Almond
- Raspberry
Bumblebees benefit outweigh other pollinators in the following manner:
- Bumblebees can survive and be active in low temperatures, with less sunshine, and with higher wind intensity.
- They can cooperate very well with other pollinators, such as bees.
- They don’t abandon cultivation for other more attractive crops because bumblebees are not so social insects and they usually fly near to their colony.
Application method
The hive should be placed in a strong supported structure, preferably under shade to protect it from the sun and condensation of drops. After placing the hives, we allow a few minutes for the bumblebees to properly calm down. Within a few minutes the hole can be opened carefully by lifting the lock blocking it.
